Beautifull Hua Hin Part 2

After checking in at Centennial, we only had 2 hours to unpack and get ready because we had to meet the team of Xploreasia at 16.00 pm at their offices. As we waited for the Xploreasia team after they took like 7 hours (30 min) one of Xploreasia’s employees finally came to pick us up and we started walking to Xploreasia’s offices. After an hour we finally got there as we waited for the students (GRANPA KOBUS)………!
When we got there we still had to wait for the others from the other apartments. When they finally arrived we had a nice get together chat and Jaco one of Xploreasia’s employees Explained how the 4 week’s will work what time the students must be there, (BLAH BLAH BLAH). They then arranged that we can go to the mall and get some things for the week. Before Brian and I went to the mall we firstly hired a scooter.
For only 3200 baht (+1000 baht deposit) which is roughly R1 158 for the month and we get R275 back at the end of the month so it is only R882 for the month! Bargain!!!! So off we went to the much discussed mall… We finally got there and …. and… is this really that great? (Okay word of advice – don’t take us too serious on how great or bad a mall is, since neither of us are big on malls.) We went straight to the Tesco Lotus (almost like a big Pick and Pay) and we thought by ourselves: “Selves, what are we going to buy...?” Fooooood!! Then we realized we are going to stay for the long run and we had to get things that we would need to make our stay here as comfortable as possible. We need to iron our clothes so we grabbed the iron and put it into our basket okay what’s next?

We must drink coffee, need mugs, sugar, coffee, teaspoon, glasses and we need some SWEEEETS of course… With a whole trolley full of stuff that we needed we finally called our shopping spree to a halt and went to the tills to pay… After a 1500 baht (R 416) bill, we finally realized that we must take all this stuff back to The Centennial - ON THE @#$%^ SCOOTER…. Hahaha we had a lot of people’s eyes on this 2 STUPID farang (foreigners) that want to take all of this stuff on the scooter. So off to the Centennial we went – what a mission!!! Two big guys on a scooter with an iron, a massive plastic basin and about 10 bags full of stuff is no easy feat to achieve.  After packing everything out and putting things on their new places, we EMBRACED the cool air in front of the aircon. After standing for 5 mins in front of the aircon we decided that we must get something to eat… So off we went to the night market. We were walking up and down could not decide what to eat until Brain saw one of the stalls selling crickets, grasshoppers and roaches… I think by myself ‘’ who the #$%% eats that shit????” Apparently Brian does… He decided to buy some and just taste it…..

I thought by myself “Self, there is no way I’m eating that shit!!!! ” After Brian dared me I said okay let’s try this… WHAT A MISTAAAAAAAKEEEE!!!!!!!!! Gosh that is really disgusting!!! At first you put it in your mouth and just the thought of a grasshopper in your mouth makes your tummy rumble (GAK REFLEX!!!) and then I swallowed it… It actually tastes like chili bites without the chili. The most difficult part was to actually swallow it… Some of the pieces got stuck in my throat (nice little grasshopper leg to tickle my adenoids….) I had to get something to drink after this GREAT culinary experience... SOOOOO AAAAAA NOOOT!!!!!! We finally got some food (two packets of rice at 5 baht each, and two sausages each at 10 baht a piece – dinner for both at 50 baht (R14 for 2 people) – NOT BAD AT ALL) and went up to the Centennial.
